About the Host - Simone Waddell
The You Have a Voice TV host, Simone Waddell, is one of Australia’s Top Contemporary Jazz Artists performing jazz, soul, and funk infused with groove. She was the first jazz vocalist in Australia to be awarded a Master’s Degree in Performance at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music under the guidance and mentorship of the late, great Australian jazz icon, Kerrie Biddell. Simone was also the first Australian to win a scholarship to the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston. Around the same time, she won the Nescafe Big Break and was awarded $20,000 for her musical achievements. After completing her music degree at Berklee, Simone enjoyed an international career performing in Asia, Europe, the U.S.A and Australia.
A prolific songwriter, Simone has recorded four albums, “Take My Love,” “Make It Happen,” “My Romance,” and “Surrender,” plus two EPS, “New Day” and “Keeping My Peace On,” – as well as multiple singles. “My Romance” and “Surrender,” produced by Australian legend Jim Kelly, were launched at live events in Sydney to sold out venues. Simone’s music videos have received 500,000+ views worldwide. Career highlights include performing backing vocals on the Australian tour of Grammy nominated artist, Taylor Dayne and opening for Australia’s jazz legend, Vince Jones, at Australian Music Week.
In 2018, Simone completed a successful tour of Japan and in 2019, she performed to sold out venues on her second tour of China. Simone has become a regular guest at the prestigious Manly Jazz Festival in Sydney. She is passionate about supporting and promoting Australian Independent Artists, as well as coaching and mentoring up and coming Artists. She has produced countless sold out workshops where her extensive network of the best Australian music professionals share their knowledge, expertise, challenges and advice with aspiring artists.
